It's been a while! December already, about two months since tragedy struck, found myself in somewhat of a mid/quarter-life crisis, time flew... and I finally remembered my blog. Sort of.
Except because it's been so long since my last post that I can't remember what I have posted about and what I haven't... the backlog goes beyond my memory already and I cannot even recollect where most of the photos were taken.
Oh well, here goes.

Plunge! Wait, what number am I up to in the cafe series again??

It's really been such a long time. About... 3 months ago now? Haha.

Tempting baked treats sitting on the counter. We didn't try any of their cakes though.

My morning freshly squeezed juice of mandarin lychee and lime. Really nice combination, with the tartness of mandarin and lime combined with the sweetness of lychee.. the perfect breakfast juice in my opinion, because I tend to like my juice more towards the sour side.

The others and their coffee. I think on top of the juice, I also ordered a cap just to see what their coffee is like... and because I know B and S always order a fw or sometimes to be fancy, S will order macchiato or espresso, so just for photos' sake, there needs to be someone who orders a cap.

S tried their espresso, which was a special blend that day. Apparently it smelt so good, she couldn't resist taking a sip as soon as it landed on the table... which is fine, because a cup smudged with coffee along the side is even more artistic than a normal photo of an average cup of coffee. (as is everything, one could argue).

On to breakfast! :D Smashed eggs, pickled ham hock... yep, thanks B for keeping up to date with your cafe passport, don't mind me lifting your descriptions because give me a break, it's been 3 months. My typical memory only lasts a couple of hours max.

Ohh beautiful. There's something about breakfast coming in clay pots that fascinates me, and look at all those colours! And the dukkah sprinkled on top! Their baked eggs, sucuk sausage, tomato, spinach, dukkah with Afghan bread was definitely one of their highlight dishes for breakfast. You'd notice that their menu serves eggs in all sorts of different ways, from smashed (like literally, you curl your fingers into a fist, take a deep breath and bam! Down on those eggs like nobody's business. That's how you make smashed eggs like the dish above this one), to baked, to poached:

Like this, which is not as easy to make as say, the smashed eggs. This one actually requires skills instead of brute strength.

Oh yea, that was wild mushrooms, poached Eggs, spinach, hollandaise sauce served on toast. Was it sourdough? I can't remember... but that's definitely a pass according to the cafe litmus test of poached eggs. That hollandaise sauce looks spectacular too, quite unlike the failure known as Macchiato (did I tell you that macchiato's hollandaise sauce was all separated into oil and egg instead of combined to a creamy sauce like Plunge's? It was horrendous- obviously they didn't take the time to slowly mix it together so it's a homogeneous mixture....)

Whinging aside, since it's not related to Plunge at all... just had to order the side of panfried haloumi with lemon... Fried haloumi is one of those items that one cannot pass on once seen on menu, along with duck and pork belly.

Beautiful experience, nice, friendly staff who will joke with you so don't be too serious (what's there to be serious about at a Sunday morning breakfast table anyway) and great food and coffee... definitely worth a revisit!
